Little Lambs
Said a precious little laddie
To his father one bright day,
"May I give myself to Jesus
Have him wash my sins away?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Oh but you're too little!
Wait until you older grow.
Bigger ones 'tis true, do need Him,
But little ones are safe you know."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Said the father to his laddie
As a storm was coming on,
"Are the sheep all safely sheltered?
Safe within the fold my son?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"All the big ones are, my Father,
But the lambs, I let them go
For I didn't think it mattered-
Little ones are safe you know."
A poem I ran across and memorized in high school. I don't remember the title or author - the author may have been 'unknown'. As I went to bed last night, it popped into my head and I thought I should share it.
I found an extra two verses online:
ReplyDeleteOh my brother, oh, my sister;
have you too made that mistake?
Little hearts that now are yielded
may be hardened then too late.
Ere the evil days come nigh them
“Let the children come to Me
And forbid them not,” said Jesus
“Of such shall my Kingdom be.”
i like that poem...i heard a 'moral of the story' story once that was about the dad and the boy and the sheep. maybe the poem was made from that? i dunno.
ReplyDeleteYes, the last two verses of that poem are valid too. One of my girls led her siblings to the Lord while they were all very young.
